The ovarian cycle has three different phases, it has the follicular phase, ovulation, and the luteal phase. The follicular phase is where the development of a follicle occurs this is from day 1 to day 14 of the 28 day cycle. Here we see follicle stimulating hormone levels high. Ovulation is day 14 where a mature oocyte is released from the growing follicle. The luteal phase is where menstration would occur if pregnancy did not occur and these are days 15-28.
