Charcoal portrait of Charles Sprague Sargent (1841-1927), by his cousin John Singer Sargent (1856-1925). This portrait was drawn here at the Sargent House, on the lawn, when J.S. visited in 1919. J.S. Sargent stopped painting oil portraits in his late years, but did a number of charcoal drawings. He completed and presented the portrait to the Museum.
