Four Bulls - Assiniboine - 1898  The Assiniboine who called themselves 'Nakota,' meaning 'The Generous Ones,' are of Yanktonai Sioux ancestry originally from the Northern Great Plains of the United States and Canada. In modern times, they have been based in present-day Saskatchewan.  Some are at the Fort Belknap reservation in northern Montana with the Gros Ventres (Atsinas).
