In the early 1990s, Helicopter painted beside his wife Napanangka, not seeking recognition. Since 1994 he has painted in his own distinctive style showcasing the central feature of a soakwater. He paints his fathers and grandfathers’ country in the Great Sandy/Gibson Desert area, where he was born. Helicopter has travelled across the world to share the stories of his Country. Including a trip to Tokyo in 2010, where he led artists to paint a brand-new Audi as part of the Motika project.
