A Russian Gilded Silver, Niello and Champlevé Enamel Tankard, Ovchinnikov, Moscow, 1876

A Fabergé gem-set silver-mounted ceramic duck form kovsh from the Imperial Stroganov School, Moscow; the ceramic body, circa 1901-1903, the silver mounts, circa 1908-1917. Formed as a stylized, swimming bird, the ceramic body glazed in an experimental mottled glaze ranging from celadon green to sky blue, with extensively chased mounts with stylized scrolls, beads, and vegetation; the eyes set with cabochon garnets and the chest centered with a collet-set pale blue topaz.
