The second of a series of three photos showing an unidentified German soldier next to (probably) ‘Yellow 2’, a Bf 109-F from 9./JG 52.  In the other two photos he is accompanied by fighter ace Hermann Graf, the first pilot to achieve 200 aerial victories during WW2, ending it with a total of 212 ‘kills’.

The Fw 190 A-4 (W.Nr. 734) of Horst HANNIG wearing one of the famous "black eagle" of JG 2. The Staffelkapitan of 2./JG 2 bailed out from this aircraft on 15 May 1943 after being shot down by Spitfires of No. 611 Squadron RAF. Horst Hannig had managed to bail out but his parachute failed to open. His score was 98 confirmed victories
