1.3 Culture can come under nationality and religion. It is important for all children to learn about each other's culture, not only will it show respect but also an understanding about different beliefs. The school implements this by organising and celebrating different cultural activities in the classroom and school. For example; Chinese new year,Christmas,Diwali and Eid. In my setting, we celebrated Chinese new year last term. We made dragons, lanterns and Chinese soup.
2.5 How to challenge discrimination Discrimination can take place either intentional or ignorance. It is imperative that discrimination should be challenged at all times when noticed. It can be difficult to challenge discrimination, particularly if it is institutional or practiced by a colleague. For a TA or any staff member to challenge any sort of discrimination activities will require a full understanding of policy, procedures and practice.
Disability Discrimination Act 2005 This act imposes a duty for schools to create an inclusive setting. This act helps in making schools understand that they have to create a Disability Equality Scheme(DES) which should also include an access plan. This plan must indicate how discriminatory barriers are removed.for examples- ramps, lift, larger prints. This encourages schools to create a good and healthy environment where all children can participate in activities irrespective of their capabilities
