Antique Edwardian Hat, ca. 1912-1913, American
This is a great example of American millinery from the early 1910s. This style would have been very popular in 1912 and more so with older women in 1913. This hat was likely worn with a smart tailored suit for streetwear. It is made of tightly woven Milan straw with a large domed crown. It is trimmed with wide black velvet ribbon and an abundance of handmade silk roses, rosebuds, violets, and foliage. The velvet ribbon wanders underneath the folded brim and is finished with bows.
