Old Colonial, Victorian, and Federation Houses from Olga Gostin's Australian Heritage Archietcure range… The images on this board are not as large or clear as I would have liked (many having been taken from tapestries inspired by her paintings), but Olga's contribution to the understanding of the heritage and architecture of Australian house is too important to ignore.

Tall chimneys adorn the asymmetrical unglazed tiled roofs and the white verandah creates a picturesque effect. Rusticated sandstone blocks form the base of the house. Houses were decorated like wedding cakes, with an amazing variety of verandahs, mouldings and intricate lacework. Roofs vanished behind parapets topped with ornamental urns, shells and fruits, to proclaim the wealth of its owner...
