Old Colonial, Victorian, and Federation Houses from Olga Gostin's Australian Heritage Archietcure range… The images on this board are not as large or clear as I would have liked (many having been taken from tapestries inspired by her paintings), but Olga's contribution to the understanding of the heritage and architecture of Australian house is too important to ignore.

Olga Gostin… Federation House, Mosman,  Sydney, Australia... This Federation house features a picturesque two-storey lookout tower with a slate roof. Tall chimneys adorn the asymmetrical unglazed tiled roofs and the white verandah creates a picturesque effect. Rusticated sandstone blocks form the base of the house. Built high above sea level, the house enjoys a magnificent view of Sydney’s middle harbour…

At the turn of the century, a new architectural style evolved in Australia. People were abandoning convention and felt a need to escape from the uniformity of inner-city terraces.
