Simple lettering embroidery with split stitch | Learn Hand Embroidery | Split Stitch Tips
Super simple lettering embroidery technique! Split stitch tips:
- It’s better to use with an even number of strands
• - Make sure to split the strands
• - Option 1: moving forward - thread saving
• - Option 2: moving backwards - more precise (easier for beginners)
• - Extra split stitch at the end of the line to keep the regular texture
• - Make shorter stitches at the curves to make them smoother
• - At the lines intersections, you can either:
• - A) end your split back stitch when you meet this intersection for the first time - to create a gap - next time make continuous split stitch over that intersection - this way the stitches do not rise above the rest of the lines
• - B) Make continuous stitching and let your split stitches overlap to create a fun texture
