Originally built around 1100, St-Dunstan-in-the-East was a Church of England parish on St. Dunstan’s hill, halfway between London Bridge and the Tower of London. The church was severely damaged during the Blitz, with only the tower, steeple, and north and south walls remaining. Londoners, rallied round and turned a wreckage into something wonderful. A lawn and trees were planted in the ruins and a fountain in the middle of the nave, and the site was made into a public garden w/open air…
