Gold Background

Illuminated Manuscript

Unseen No. 12. Fine art

“Unseen” was originally the watercolour series conceived after a study of illuminated manuscripts of the 17th century. I created 11 pieces in 2019-2020. This year, I decided to look back at those works and rethink them. I added an almost lost gold background as a reference to the destroyed and forgotten art objects of the past. The shape of the flower has become closer to naive folk painting, rather than elegant court art. Even more vulnerable and elusive beauty.
