I could check this out when in Toronto Project: Waterfront Toronto Designer: West 8 Location: Toronto, Canada The Simcoe WaveDeck, one of four uniquely Canadian wavedecks planned for the Waterfront Toronto, is as artistic as it is functional. Located at the water’s edge, the wooden wavedeck features an informal public amphitheatre-style space with impressive curves that soar as high as 2.6 metres above the lake. http://www.west8.com/projects/all/simcoe_wavedeck/

How can we start to implement these ideas into the mega-cities? Would it be possible to create walkability and connectivity by placing mini-breaks within the chaotic slums that we saw in Episode 1 of Megacities? I do enjoy the idea of slums and how diverse and actually organized the people are, but there should be opportunities of non-chaos within the chaos to provide a balance.

WMBstudio has designed and installed ‘parked bench’– a temporary parklet located on a busy street in the london bridge area. the portable micro-park replaces two standard car parking spaces, with the aim of providing urban greening, public seating, and to raise awareness of air quality issues in the capital. the approach was to create a singular sculptural seating element around which zones of planting and small pockets of public space
