They also have similar mix of light and dark, that seem to reflect both Emma and Regina's desire in a relationship. Even setting aside the shippy nature of Swan Queen for a moment, Emma says part of happiness is being open to love. But being so set on how they see their own happy ending, and fighting to achieve it as soon as possible, robs them of their current happiness in each other.
