Echidnas, sometimes known as spiny anteaters, are a type of egg-laying mammal found in Australia and New Guinea. Diet consists largely of ants and termites. They are named after a monster in ancient Greek mythology.
Tree-kangaroos are macropods adapted for life in trees. They inhabit the rainforests of New Guinea, far northeastern Queensland, and nearby islands. Most tree-kangaroos are considered threatened due to hunting and habitat loss.
