1755-1765 French Secrétaire in the Royal Collection, UK - From the curators' comments: "A drop-front secretaire of oak veneered in ebonised wood and decorated with Japanese lacquer panels of lakeside scenes in relief, each surrounded by elaborately scrolled gilt bronze mounts, on four short cabriole legs....The drop front conceals a compartment containing a serpentine-fronted nest of drawers, veneered in kingwood, tulipwood and purplewood; the lower section is fitted with a cupboard."
