Almond Antique Botanical Illustration from Flora of Germany circa 1903
Today I bring you a botanical illustration inspired art about mandrakes. I really like special plants which connected with interesting superstitions and beliefs. According to the legend, when the mandrake root is dug up it screams and kills all who hear it.
Parnassia Palustris (Pentandria Tetragynia), formerly in an album (Vol.VII, 50); Grass of Parnassus. 1776 Collage of coloured papers, with bodycolour and watercolour, and a leaf sample, on black ink background, Mary Delany (1700-1788)
