Reason 5: Hinata was shy. There are not a lot of characters that are written as shy as she was, and why shouldn't she be after how her family treated her as a failure? We may have been annoyed at how painful it was when she was around Naruto at first, but that is an all too human feeling, and she eventually found her strength to stand up and speak out. She didn't let her shyness define her.
