Stampin up flower cards

I've been trying out my newest stamp set this morning. I'd planned on only making one card but stamped and heat embossed spares - I always need spares for when I make the inevitable mistake!! Today must have been a good day as no mistakes were made so I had enough images for two cards!! The first: I stamped and heat embossed the flowers with gold before lightly water colouring with distress inks. Then die cut the images and adhered them with foam squares to add dimension. Woe is me and woe are you if you really like my card today and want to make it. It is the 4th card Sue had for us last Thursday. We had to stamp our flowers and punch them out. She just had the card base ready for us (with the exception of the background stamp...isn't it sweet with the hearts?). I fussy cut some of the flowers and used the punch for about three. These Vertical Freestanding Cards are so pretty and they stand up very well on a shelf. Both are Mother’s Day cards but you can make them for whatever occasion you want.

In today's Video I show you how I created these pretty cards using the Forever Blossoms stamp set and the Perennial Essence Vellum. You are able to get two completely different looks with this Vellum. One side is darker than the other. If you place the Vellum into the embossing folder with this side up, then the result will be as the card on the left. If you have the lighter side up, then you will get a more distressed look like the card on the right. I like both results, but my favourite…

I came up with a new textured embossing technique for paper crafting and card making. I’ll teach you how to create this same look!

I am happier when my card has dimension so i use a lot of dies rather than just a stamped image. This set, Spotlight On Nature, does not have dies for the images so I stamped them twice and fussy cut one of the sets out. I then cut a few slits in the flowers and adhered them on top of the stamped images. The butterfly did not need slits to be cut. I was able to bend it forward and then glue it to the first stamped image. TFL
