An antique diamond floral cluster necklace/tiara, circa 1880, with twenty one graduating clusters each with a larger rounded or cushion cut diamond to centre, raised in a cut-down collet to a two row border of diamonds, the outer border each in petal shaped collets, with double leaf 'bowtie' sections between, open set in silver and gold, the central eleven clusters each detachable for flexible wearing.

Original parure made in 1811 by Maison Nitot for Empress Marie Louise (1791-1847), the second wife of Napoleon I. Louis XVIII had the crown jewels redone in the Restoration style instead of the Empire style. In 1816, the parure was remade to suit the Duchess of Angoulême. The rubies were worn by Queen Marie-Amélie and Empress Eugénie. The set used nearly 400 rubies and more than 6,000 diamonds. It was finally auctioned off by the Third Republic in 1887.
