Queen's first ever television appearance came entirely by chance.

Legendary vocalist Freddie Mercury is responsible for creating Queen’s appropriately stately and regal logo. Mercury designed the logo to impart a sense of British royalty into the band’s identity. The close resemblance to the British coat of arms does the trick quite nicely. However, there’s more to it than that: Each band member is represented by their zodiac sign symbols, which surround the letter “Q.”

They had several number one hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions,” “We Will Rock You,” and “Another One Bites the Dust.” You know, masterpieces.

Queen, that most chameleon-like or even dare I say it 'mercurial' of bands (damn that pun and the horse it rode in on), was as tough to pin down visually as they were musically, following trends or even creating them as quited their whims. For those who don't know (shame on you), Freddie Mercury was the lead vocalist for Queen, the greatest rock band to ever exist.

In the spring of 1975 Queen set foot as a band for the first time in Japan much to the delight of their legions of fans there. The band played their first of many gigs at Budokan after the release of 1974’s Sheer Heart Attack and the footage from the show is truly something to behold as are the images of the then 29-year-old Mercury sitting along with his bandmates and a few lovely geishas at a formal ceremony on the grass in front of the Tokyo Tower.
