These porcelain vases are shaped and thinned with a wooden paddle and rounded river stone. When the form is nearly bone dry, the thin walls are pierced with a tapered tool and hand cut with an exacto knife. They are designed to be playful as the user interacts with them to create different arrangements from a simple bud vase to a larger center piece.

Ceramicist and mathematician Guy Van Leemput forms textured bowls by drafting interlocking lines, abnormally shaped circles, and other designs on the surface of balloons.
