I had a couple of hours to kill this morning so I thought I'd do another contrast paints tutorial. Want to paint miniatures faster? Everyone wants to get more done! I’ve been a commission painter for many years and time is money. Most of my projects are for bulk army paint jobs. Of course, you might not be painting miniatures for this reason. It’s supposed to be fun, right? But, sometimes you’re just bored and mentally stuck with the idea that you have so many models to paint. You want to paint faster, but also keep your paint job quality at a decent level.

Yes folks, it's true! You can make fire from water! All you need is a brush and some Vallejo Water Effects. Like all the Vallejo gesso products, it has quite a bit of body, and literally stands up on its own. I had a number of Reaper BONES fire miniatures that I wanted to use a fire markers in various games, such as Flames of War and Wild West Exodus. Just using the flames themselves had little appeal to me, but trying to sculpt a bunch of extra flames to juice them up had even less appeal…

It might seem a bit overwhelming to paint your first miniature. Or maybe it’s been a while since you last painted something and a LOT has changed! I know that was the case for me. Fear not – you can absolutely get a result to be proud of regardless of any artistic ability. A good looking miniature is a matter of applying some smooth, even coats of paint and adding a bit of contrast to it. No matter what you’re painting, these steps will get you to a finished miniature you’ll love.
