Mettler® Thread on Instagram: "Closing openings 🪡
Franziska from @vonlangehand shows you how to easily close openings by hand stitching:

💡First, take a thread 🧵(Franziska used our SILK-FINISH COTTON thread), lay it double and put both ends in the eye of the hand needle 🪡
💡Then stitch into the fabric just before the opening until a small loop is created and pull the thread tight through the needle.
💡Now stitch the needle alternately from right to left over the opening (this is also called a ladder stitch).
💡Now pull the thread tight and close the opening.
💡Finally, sew up the end of the thread and let it disappear inside the sewing project.

Annie Stafford - Learn to sew on Instagram: "Do as I say, not as I do 😫 I use to always cut off these thread tails, because what other option did I have? 💁🏼‍♀️ It wasn’t untill I came across this sewing hack that involves threading the tail back up your overlocking stitch to secure it, that I knew I had a new sewing hack to tuck up my sleeve. By threading the tail back up the overlocking chain, it secures it, similar to a backstitch on a sewing machine. Have you triced this sewing hack before? Hemming up a fabric where the stitches may show through - fuse a 1.5cm wide strip of interfacing to the garment where the hem will be hand stitched in place. Then catch stitch in place, roll back the overlocked edge, and then take a stitch into the interfacing followed by a stitch into the edge of the overlocking. Result no stitches show on either side ! #sewwithalison #schoolofsewing #saturdaysewing #handsewnhem #sew #sewahem #catchstitch #dress Catch Stitch, Alison Smith, Tip Of The Day, Sewing Hacks, Hand Stitched, Dressmaking, Hand Stitching, Hand Sewing, Take That
