Valerie Hendricks on Instagram: "If you just recently transferred your Orchids from mulch/moss to water culture, leave in water and change it out weekly until your orchid gets used to water for 2-3 months, then you can add your weekly fertilizer. Yes, transitioning them to water culture will shock your plant and yes, theres a possibility you’ll lose blooms if your plant had some. Some say it’s better to wait until your blooms have all fallen off for the season before you put them in water cuture. I’ve transitioned them with blooms and yes, some have lost blooms, while others didn’t. It just all depends on your plant.  Don’t give up on your orchids. It takes time and patience and experimentation, practice and love. Some orchids, such as Phalaenopsis and Vanda, tend to thrive in water culture, while others may not adapt as easily. 2. Inspect the roots for any signs of damage or rot, and trim them as needed with sterile scissors or pruning shears. 3. Select a container that is just large enough to accommodate the orchid’s root system and has a wide opening for airflow. I prefer clear so you can monitor the water level. 4. Place the orchid in the prepared water culture container, making sure the ends of the roots dangle into the water with plenty of the root system out of the water.
