city slicker - LE CATCH

With European vacationers carpet bombing my Instagram feed, it's refreshing to see someone summering back home in New York City--and so stylishly at that. Meet Janelle Marie Lloyd who finesses (and then some) downtown chic. Thankfully, it's a look that works anywhere, from Santa Monica to Santorini, plus it's anchored in totally accessible pieces from H&M, Madewell (jacket and shorts, above), Lioness (second pic down), The Frankie Shop (last snap), and other affordable lines. Also inspired…

hawaii high - LE CATCH

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have noticed that I've been in Hawaii a lot lately. It all started back in the fall of 2020, when my kids were Zoom-schooling in LA--i.e., firmly planted in their bedrooms doing everything from eating breakfast to sweating through PE to socializing with their friends. Right before Thanksgiving break, we decided to pack up our surfboards and bathing suits and remote-learn from the shores of Oahu instead. We planned to stay for three weeks but ended up…

sage advice - LE CATCH

Leave it Goop to launch me lickety-split into a faraway warm and sunny universe--otherwise known as Alexandra Sage's Australian Summer. I landed in this fine-sand world, replete with cloudless skies, turquoise waters and green palms, via Goop's Instagram feed, lured in by Alexandra's astronomic chicness, proven, above, in the matching Matteau set, above, and in the various images, below. Now I know, before I touch back down in Californian Summer, I'm going to need this tie-back dress, Rowie…

urban flight

Yep, this first half-week of school was doozy--and, oh, did I mention, it's snowing ash outside?! WTF! Even so--deep breath here--I'm doing my best to keep calm and carry on. One proactive measure I'm taking is living vicariously via London-based stylist Bettina Looney, who spent her week living it up in Ischia. Is it too much to ask to have what she's having? For example: al fresco meals at Mezzatorre in an airy Cecilie Bahnsen dress, above, followed by the cut-out Patbo one-piece, below…

these birks are back

I had long assumed that the Birkenstocks I used to wear to Dead shows was not likely to find its way into my closet again, but they did, and are now a legit fashionable option, no less! The newest comeback gaining a foothold this fall, however, is the Boston style, seen here--and already selling out at mainstream stores like Madewell and Urban Outfitters. I'm just wrapping my head around them--but my toes are already 100% in! I prefer them in darker hues, like these here!

amalie and cecilie

Since the day I was born, I've always had two closets: mine and my identical twin sister's. To this day, I still borrow (and, okay, sometimes steal) pieces from her wardrobe and vice versa. It's an uniquely awesome arrangement, dependent upon our exact-same size, height, and, for the most part, similar style. It's fun to see Danish twin models Amalie and Cecilie Moosgard, pictured here, doing the same thing. Although I can't tell them apart (LOL!), I can clearly discern their mutual fondness…
