A big part of our everyday lives happens on the internet. Therefore, internet safety is an important issue. Here are five simple tips on how to stay safe online.

Internet safety is a hot topic for parents, rightfully so. When we started Digital Mom Blog, our kids were young and so was the internet. Nowadays our kids are online all the time.

On February 5, countries from around the globe will join together to observe Safer Internet Day. The campaign’s slogan, “Together for a better internet,” is a call to action for people worldwide to commit to creating a better and safer internet for everyone. At Bark, we know how important a safer internet is for its most vulnerable users — children, tweens, and teens.

Internet safety for kids is one of the most alarming topics parents face these days. Learn useful safety tips to ensure your kid’s safe digital experience in 2020!

Starting with these 10 tips will get you on your way to a more secure and safer internet experience.

Ask students to create a Powerpoint to share their ideas on what is online security and how to protect our online information. They can research reliable 1-2 resources. K3-5 Computer Science Standards: 3-5.IC.4 Understand ethical issues that relate to computers and networks (e.g., equity of access, security, privacy, copyright, and intellectual property). 3-5.IC.3 Evaluate the accuracy, relevance, appropriateness, comprehensiveness, and biases that occur in electronic information sources.

As part of our Safer Internet Day celebrations and activities, we asked kids to share their online safety tips. Here's what they told us.

What should parents do about Internet safety? Never post or trade personal pictures. Never reveal personal information, such as address, phone number, or school name or location. Use only a screen name and don't share passwords (other than with parents). Never agree to get together in person with anyone met online without parent approval and/or supervision.
