This week, 2nd grade started their Fall reflection paintings. These were created in just a few steps. This project was inspired by, Lauralee Chambers . You can check her work out on Instagram, if you click on her name. Here's how we created ours. First draw out "Y" trees on a folded piece of 90lb paper, with a brown oil pastel. The kids really liked this! It was a great way to learn about reflection and symmetry, as well. I'd suggest letting them experiment with the method for a little while before having them make the trees. We did a class project today. It's quite simple and I'm sure you've seen it before. I used a big sheet of white paper and stuck it to the wall. Then I took brown paint and made a tree. The kids then took turns making hand prints on the tree. I wish I had used a lighter paint or even crayons for the trunk and branches so the leaves would stand out more. Oh well. This is a lovely Fall Painting where students can feel successful no matter their age or ability. Supplies Needed: Watercolor Paper Blue Watercolor Paint Acrylic or Tempra Paint - yellow, red, orange, green and brown Brushes Have the students fold their paper in half.
