The common myna or Indian myna (Acridotheres tristis), also sometimes spelled mynah, is a member of family Sturnidae (starlings and mynas). The common myna is native to much of Central, South and Southeast Asia, ranging from Iran, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan eastwards through India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to China and Indochina. This is a group of passerine birds which are native to southern Asia, especially India, Pakistan and Bangladesh . Several species have been introduced to areas like North America, Australia, South Africa, Fiji and New Zealand, especially the common myna which is often regarded as an invasive species. A stocky brown songbird with a glossy black head and shoulders, yellow bill and facial skin, white-tipped tail feathers, primaries and upper and lower coverts, white-flecked brown-grey irises, and yellow brown legs with horn-coloured claws. Juveniles have paler plumage, a light yellow bill streaked with dark grey, and facial skin which is white for the first two weeks.
