Chokecherry syrup

Chokecherry jelly is an August tradition around here, and I always use some of the Chokecherry Juice to make Chokecherry Syrup too.

Chokecherries grow wild in North American and taste very similar to black cherries. The syrup is my favorite on pancakes, waffles and even vanilla ice cream.

As a young girl I remember my mother making syrup once the chokecherries were ripe. We called it 'supsil'. I didn't always enjoy picking the berries but oh my I did love the syrup.
