Where Bedtime Bear is friends with all things related to the night, such as the moon and the stars, Cheer Bear is friends with all things related to cheer and joy and fun, such as butterflies and meadows and beautiful views. Butterflies are Cheer Bear's best friends, and often she can be found in the meadow, sitting beside a splash of yellow flowers, trading whispered secrets with a butterfly.

The Care Bears love to play in any environment, whether it's grassy or rocky or snowy or muddy, but the place they love to play more than anywhere else is in the sky, especially on a sunny, cloudy day, when big white poofs of cloud roll in and cast deep, dark shadows on the ground. Cheer Bear loves to collect rainbows, and Share Bear helps her collect the rainbows by rolling them up at the end of a long, fun day.

There are many, many Care Bears living in the Care Bear community, but nobody will ever forget the first ten, the Original Ten, as they are called, who founded the community. These include Bedtime Bear, Love-a-Lot Bear, Funshine Bear, Wish Bear, Grumpy Bear, Birthday Bear, Tenderheart Bear, Cheer Bear, Friend Bear, and Good Luck Bear. All the Care Bears are important, but everyone knows the first ten!
