ALICE MERTON (b. 1993) singer/songwriter: Daughter of an Irish father & German mother, she spent most of her first 13 years in Canada, before returning to her birthplace, Germany. By the time she released her hit song "No Roots" (at age 24) she'd moved 11 times & lived in 4 countries. Of her song she says, “I never really stayed in one place for very long. I got to a point where I was feeling quite lost. So I decided to write a song that would make me feel better.” [HLT] Alice Merton, Sister Sledge, John Newman, Director's Chair, Jojo Levesque, Vocal Lessons, Of Monsters And Men, Music Studios, French Montana

"I was just thinking to myself that I have no one place where I actually feel like I’m at home," Merton explains. "I came up with the idea of having no roots -- never being grounded to a certain place, but having your home with people who you love."
