a man taking a photo of an alligator

As fascinating as nature and wildlife photography can be, there are often beautiful and unforgettable things that happen behind the lens as well. Usually, these can only be enjoyed by the photographers themselves, but occasionally, we're lucky enough to have a second photographer on the scene to capture these special moments. These photos are some of the weirdest, funniest, scariest and most beautiful moments that we've ever seen behind the scenes in nature and wildlife photography.

an overhead view of a man in a canoe floating on the water with rocks and pebbles

I think my favorite part about canoeing is the quiet observation I experience. Ive come around corners to see deer swimming the river and bears eating just onshore. My least favorite part is that sometimes I just want to go fast haha. You cant have it all I guess. @forrestmankins

the sun is shining through the trees in the forest

When it comes to choosing film I am not the most adventurous person, I tend to stick to Kodak Ektar and Portra 400 with the occasional Velvia. Last year I decided to try Portra 800, and I fell in love.
