By Angela Mombers: "My 1620s dress, after a drawing of Hendrick Avercamp, is aaaaalmost ready! The black silk arrived last Saturday so I could finally make the skirt. It's attached to the bodice with very tight cartridge pleats. Then the hemline is gathered and tucked in the waist of the petticoat. The petticoat is actually green, but you can't see it well on this photo. Now the only thing left is to starch the cuffs and hood, and then I am ready!"

It appears to be a single front lacing layer worn over an exposed smock, paired with an apron and a linen partlet with attached or integral ruff. Now, it's never a good idea to take coloured drawings at face value and it's…
