Wet yarn with glue, arrange on wax paper, allow to dry~Moon~by Elaine Carstairs Beautiful. I suspect the children would have a blast creating this, and then tracing it. - shadow art is very contemporary!
Trace the shadow of your sculpture - foil figure or another object with a clearly identifiable shape. Ask, "If I hold the light here, will the shadow move?" Explore how the shadow elongates and shortens as the light is moved.
Light-Shadow tracing ~ so simple, yet so brilliant. It was this picture that inspired me to get the old light projectors from the school storage, and do a tracing activity for Groundhog Day. The kids loved the light and shadow experiment.

"What a great way to explore light and shadow in a confined space. The way the objects have been placed on reflective surfaces as well as glass and the use of CDs with their hollow centre creates an awesome aesthetic sure to provoke anyone's curiosity"
The shadow screen is a wonderful addition to a construction area. The children have opportunity to build and see objects grow and shrink. The possibilities are endless and when you add translucent objects, colors explode.
