Lamb’s ear (Stachys byzantina) is desired for its fuzzy gray-green leaves. Its spiky, pink or purple flowers appear in summer. Use this member of the mint family as a groundcover in a sunny area, perhaps in a rock garden or a children’s garden (children tend to like the plant because of its fuzzy leaves). Plant in well-drained soil, and avoid getting water on the leaves, especially in the afternoon. This might cause rot problems.
