Sint-Maarten (the Dutch Halloween). On the 11th of November, children go out on the street with lanterns (which they made by themselves, most of the time at school). To get a candy, they have to sing a little song at the door. Sint Maarten is not celebrated in every provence of The Netherlands though, but it is very common in Noord-Holland (North Holland)

On every second Saturday of November the Dutch santa (Sinterklaas) comes to The Netherlands with his steamboat full of presents and zwarte pieten (black Piet) All the way from Spain where he lives. He arrives every year at a different town/city and when he arrives, a whole parade is made through that town. Everything can be followed on the national television.
