The Boxcar Children BYFIAR Lapbook

The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner was the first series I read in its entirety after leaving the safety of the library's picture book area. And this was definitely the 1970s cover I remember. [The Wayback Machine: The Boxcar Children]
This book would be a good third grade read aloud book. This is the first trip to Canada for the boxcar children. The children want to explore Niagra Falls and the other attractions; however the grandfather wants them to work in their souvenir, things start disappearing from the store and the children want to know who is responsible. The genre for this story would be mystery.
