Ocimum tenuiflorum, also known as Holy-Basil or Tulsi, is an aromatic plant [Family Lamiaceae] found in the Eastern World tropics, in native and cultivated state. The two morphotypes cultivated in India are green-leaved (Lakshmi-Tulsi) and purple-leaved (Krishna-Tulsi). Tulsi is sacred for Hindus and has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda for its many healing properties. It is considered as an Adaptogen - balancing different processes in the body, and helping adapt to stress.
