The Best Black Beans Recipe 1 (15oz) can black beans 1 (4oz) can diced green chiles 1/4 cup diced onion 1 tsp garlic powder 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper Salt and pepper to taste 1 to 2 tbsp chopped cilantro Instructions  Combine the black beans (do not drain them), green chiles, onion, garlic powder and cayenne pepper in a small pot over medium heat. Stir and bring to a gentle boil then reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes.
