Glasgow museum. Man's coat. Recent research by Peter MacDonald, an independent tartan historian, has identified this coat as the one owned by the Scottish artist Gourlay Steell (1819-1894) during the 19th century. Prior to Steell’s ownership it was said to have been worn by a rider in Bonnie Prince Charlie's army at the Battle of Culloden in 1746.
