The kokoshnik (кокошник) is a traditional Russian head-dress worn by women and girls. They are usually patterned to match the style of the clothing and can be pointed or round, and the forehead area is sometimes decorated with pearls or beads. Each region had their own traditional form. They were worn by both Peasants and Royalty alike.
