Dragons in Turkic mythology are known as Azhdarkha (or Azhdah), and their images are associated with ancient ideas about the power of nature, protection and destruction. Azhdharha is an image of a serpentine dragon that is often associated with the underworld, water and elemental forces. It symbolizes both destructive and creative power.
