Maple seeds and other autorotating seeds produce surprisingly large amounts of lift as they fall, considering how small and relatively slow they are.

Research (Not my photo): I really love how the light is predominantly focused on the style of the leaf. It's the only thing you are able to see and the photographer has made it his or her intention to bring out the curvature and detailing with his/her use of light. I may apply this to my own photos and signify it to an image such as this. It's very shell-like and subtle. Beautiful photograph!
