Freddie Prinze (June 22, 1954-January 29, 1977), stand-up comedian and star of NBC-TV’s sitcom Chico and the Man, shot himself in the head on Jan. 28. The next day he was taken off life support and died at 1pm. In 1977, his death was ruled a suicide but in a civil case brought years later, a jury found that his death was accidental.

Bill Lancaster, son of actor Burt Lancaster, guest-starring in an episode of the TV series, The Big Valley, in 1967. After a brief stint as an actor, Lancaster later became a screenwriter (on such films as The Bad News Bears in 1976, and The Thing in 1982). He died in 1997 at the age of 49 due to cardiac arrest.
