Joan Leslie, petite redhaired film and TV actress, extremely popular in the 40s/50s. Was in 40+ films, mostly wholesome girl-next-door, as the leading man's sweetheart opposite big names: Astaire, Bogart, Cooper and Cagney. Married Dr. William Caldwell in 1950 & retired to raise her twin daughters. Was only thereafter in TV commercials and occasional guest appearances in shows as 'Murder, She Wrote' and 'Charlie's Angels'. Gave much time to humanitarian work and a new career as a dress designer.
