A parent's part to play is to diminish the reasons why a child would lie. Here are three ideas of how to do that • Don't cut the lie. When we do we're "testing" their moral character and it's a very infair test. • Avoid scarcity models in your home. When children think that things are scarce or taboo their interest and desire peaks! Make sure that your child knows that there is a place and a time for most of the things that they want, and that there is enough to fulfill their needs. • Look for the good. Sometimes children lie because the are afraid to disappoint you or their self esteem is low. Acknowledge the progress that is made and the good that they do.
