BELARUS - Festival doll and Welcoming doll Belarus was formerly known as the Soviet Republic of Belorussia. Wooden dolls with knob heads, padded stick bodies and painted features. They both have skirts made of fibre. The doll on the left is a Festival doll holding a sheath of barley. The doll on the right is a "Welcoming" doll, the tradition being to give the guests salted bread. This doll has two plaits down to her knees. 2006.
