Physicists find way to boot up quantum computers 72 times faster than previously possible

Press the start button, switch on the monitor, grab a cup of coffee and off you go. That is pretty much how most us experience booting up a computer. But with a quantum computer the situation is very different.

Physicists show that gravity isn't affected by the quantum world - ScienceAlert

To connect classical physics and quantum physics, physicists used two rubidium atoms to see if the effects of gravity are affected by the atoms' quantum spins. Ultimately, the experiment failed to make that connection.

The sheer beauty of the planet surprised me. It was a huge pearl, set in spangled ebony. It was nacreous, it was an opal. Its patterned colouring was more subtle, more ethereal — but does it float

Wind at Work on #Mars | NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter | Wind is one of the most active forces shaping Mars’ surface in today’s climate. The wind has carved the features we call “yardangs,” one of many in this scene, and deposited sand on the floor of shallow channels between them. On the sand, the wind forms ripples and small dunes. In Mars’ thin atmosphere, light is not scattered much, so the shadows cast by the yardangs are sharp and dark.
