In Russian we use different prepositions to express the preposition "to" in English. We use the preposition "в" if we are going to be inside of a building or a city (bank, restaurant, Moscow, etc.), the preposition "на" for events (part, lesson, conference) or open spaces (station, balcony, roof) and "к " for people (to the doctor, to my friend) or if we will be near the building (not inside of it. For example, I go to the bus stop).
